Hectic Past Week!

Well it has been a busy last week of ordering prints, buying frames, painting shelves ready for the opening of the exhibition tomorrow. I will be posting a picture of the exhibition and posting it on here :) thank you to all of you who have looked at my blog and I am sure I will be creating more blogs especially when I attend Coventry University.

Last Photo Shoots

Wow!! I have a lot to catch up on :) right so I am going to be uploading a variety of shoots I have done now.

So here is one of my final images from my pin and bandages shoot in which I used a snoot. However the lighting is not as harsh as previous photo shoots which gives a different tone throughout the image. This was a quite difficult shoot as the weather was extremely hot which made the stood very humid but we pushed through it and got a rather interesting result.

I decided to extend my idea a little in the next images as i felt that my work was very consistant and did not show a clear development in the technical aspects. So i decided to contrast my images by shooting some over-exposed images which allowed the white to contrast with the colour of people's eyes. Here are some of the results below:

These image are completely opposite to my dark atmospheric photo shoots and personally think they worked out really well however I do not think they are as strong as my previous photographs. My favourite image from this set is the second one from the top. One thing I really like is how the background seems to have changed but it compliments their eye colours.

I then chose to experiment with my lighting by using a big piece of card in which I cut a very small slit through it to allow a very small amount of light to come through. This actually turned out to be extremely difficult to work with as I was originally going to just get the light across her eyes but you had to get the card into a perfect position which was very difficult. However I feel this is a very strong image in which her eyes are very prominent in this photograph.

The last think I tried was the barn doors, I feel this let out a little too much light however the way there is a strip of light across the image has allowed the bottom half of her face to be in darkness so it relates to my theme.

This is now my last photo shoot, however I will still be posting as these are going to be used in our final project exhibition at college in which I will upload photos of when it takes place.

Another Photo Shoot!

I did another photo shoot in the week which went quite well. It was extremely hot so I got a little impatient however I should be uploading a few photos up tomorrow. Lets just say this photo shoot included bandages and a few safety pins. :)

2nd Shoot Images

I am sorry that I have not updated sooner i have just been extremely busy however in my absense I did a photoshoot in which I used 3 seperate props to create a variety of different looks. I decided to use a vairety of lighting techniques using the snoot, in which some images I was creating a pure black background and in others I did not have the light so harsh so it created a soft blue tinted glow around my model.

I found this photoshoot extremely different compared to my previous shoot. Her striking blue eyes allow the darkness of props and lighting to stand out and she draws you in her with her eyes.
With the last image even though I decided to change it to black and white I feel her eyes are still the main focus of the image. Overall I am happy with the outcome of these images especially the string portrait as I did not think it would be as successful as it was.

Two Shoots Planned

I am hopefully going to be doing another two shoots this week in the studio, this time I will be using props rather than facepaint. This will allow me to get a certain amount of depth to my images so everyone will be able to look deeper into my images.

1st Shoot Images

So here are two images from my first photoshoot, as planned I used the snoot to give the spot light effect. I was actually surprised at how well the face paint worked out as I did not think it would be black enough. I used a scarf to cover her neck as it looked slightly odd with her face paint stopping at her chin. I also have two shoots planned for next week which will be a little easier but I will push myself to make it more challenging. Overall I am please with how the shoot went and I am looking forward to sharing more work as it is created. I will also be adding another image from this shoot once it has been through the editing process.

Update on My 1st Shoot

The photo shoot went rather well today. It took a while to get the face paint right but the end result was worth the time. I will be uploading the photo's tomorrow as I need to slightly tweak them.
